Artistic Committee of Aurora New Music Inc

The Artistic Commitee of Aurora New Music Inc is a sound board for the Artisic Curator and aids in the formation of future programs and projects.
John Kirkman
John Kirkman has been the Chief Executive Officer Penrith Performing & Visual Arts since 2005. Immediate to this he was Director of the Penrith Regional Gallery & The Lewers Bequest (2001-2005).

Previously he was Curator/Manager of djamu Gallery Australian Museum at Customs House (1998-2001), and was inaugural Director, Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre (1992-98). John was also Project Co-ordinator, Flying Fruit Fly Circus, Albury/Wodonga (1987-92).

John Kirkman has worked extensively as curator and project manager for a range of exhibitions, performance programs and major public art commissions and consultancies. Clients include Sydney International Airport (SACL), Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority, Hawkesbury City Council and Liverpool City Council.

John Kirkman has also co-ordinated and curated a range of international exhibition, residency and performance programs with particular focus on Japan, India and the Pacific.

John Kirkman has a Masters of Arts Administration (College of Fine Art, University of NSW) and a Diploma of Teaching (Wollongong University). 

Stephen Adams
Stephen Adams is a composer and works as Producer, Australian Music Unit for ABC Classic FM. His role includes commissioning and producing recordings and other special Australian music projects, producing an Australian Music website ( and co-producing programs for New Music Up Late ( Adams studied music composition with Peter Sculthorpe and Richard Vella and has been active as a composer and performer of choral music, music theatre, improv, rock and studio works. His music has been performed in Australia, Europe, North America, and Asia, and broadcast regularly on Australian radio. His educational experience includes teaching English to migrants and refugees, and music composition to teenagers. Adams was the ABC’s Radio Music Jury representative for the 2007 Prix Italia in Verona and was invited to Toronto as a panellist for the 2008 Soundstreams conference New Models of Distribution. He has been involved with the planning and ABC coverage of the Aurora Festival since its inception in 2006. 

Kiri Morcombe
Kiri is a contemporary artist, arts consultant and trashionista, specialising in:, arts project management, costume, set, illustration, contemporary performing arts, particularly contemporary dance, visual arts (WeAve Parramatta project and curating), installation and multimedia art, arts and cultural research, photography, styling, repurposing (skills and items) and arts brokerage.

Kiri currently works for Blacktown Arts Centre as Performing Arts Development Officer to develop, program and produce performing and cross artform works with and for the communities of Blacktown and western Sydney.
